SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary School
Location: London & Surrounding Areas
About the Role
Destination Education is currently recruiting for a caring and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and making a positive impact on their educational journey.
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop both academically and socially. You will play a key role in creating a positive, inclusive learning environment where every child is supported to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
Assist in implementing the pupil's EHCP and individual learning targets.
Support the pupil's academic, social, and emotional development throughout the school day.
Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
Encourage independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
Promote positive behaviour and support the school's behaviour policy.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff.
Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.The Ideal Candidate
Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, ideally on a 1:1 basis.
Knowledge of SEN including ASD, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
