The Opportunity

Our client is a privately owned North West M&E contractor with a directly employed workforce of over 250 electricians, plumbers, fitters and apprentices, and annual sales in excess of £60 million. They are looking for an Electrical Site Manager to join a project in Leeds, with the position available either as a 12-month contract or on a permanent basis.

That flexibility is worth noting upfront. For candidates who want to assess the fit before committing to something permanent, the 12-month route makes sense. For those ready to come in for the long term, that option is equally open. The business makes clear both are genuine, so the conversation around which suits is worth having early.

The role is site-based in Leeds, managing electrical delivery on the ground. You will oversee directly employed electricians, coordinate with the main contractor and design team, and take responsibility for quality, safety and programme across the electrical works.

About the Business

Our client operates across healthcare, education, residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, industrial and public sector projects, working alongside some of the UK’s leading main contractors and developers. With a directly employed workforce of over 250, the business runs the electrical, mechanical and plumbing trades in-house, which gives a Site Manager genuine resource and stability behind them rather than dependence on a subcontract supply chain.

Their in-house design capability includes 3D modelling and BIM Level 2 accreditation, which translates into better coordination between design and site and fewer unresolved clashes to manage during delivery. They are also a recognised low carbon consultant, with capability in ASHP, CHP, data centre cooling and renewable energy installations, reflecting a business that is actively positioned for where the M&E market is heading.

They received external recognition earlier in 2025 for their sustainability and ESG approach, and their commitment to social value is embedded in how projects are run rather than handled as a separate exercise. The workforce is described by the business as their greatest asset, which in this case is backed by a genuine investment in apprenticeships and directly employed trades rather than just a line in a company statement.
