Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
Rate: Up to £39 per hour (Umbrella) - depending on experience
Hours: 37 hours per week - Full-time
Contract Type: Agency / Temporary

Overview

Caritas Recruitment is urgently seeking an experienced Social Worker to join Bury Council's Duty & Assessment Team.

This is a front-line role responsible for managing referrals, conducting assessments, and carrying out statutory duties to safeguard children and families. You'll work in a fast-paced, high-performing team dealing with new referrals, strategy discussions, and Section 47 enquiries.

Please note: Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years' post-qualification experience in a Duty & Assessment or Front Door team. Applications not meeting this requirement will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a Duty & Assessment caseload, responding to new referrals and undertaking assessments in line with statutory requirements.
Conduct Section 47 Child Protection enquiries where appropriate.
Liaise effectively with multi-agency partners including health, police, and education.
Produce clear, evidence-based assessments and care plans.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records.
Participate in team meetings, strategy discussions, and case reviews.Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (CQSW, DipSW, CSS, or Social Work Degree).
Registered with Social Work England.
Minimum of 4 years' experience working in a Duty & Assessment team (essential).
Strong working knowledge of child protection procedures, thresholds, and statutory guidance.
Excellent written, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Must be able to work office-based in Bury when required.What's on Offer

Up to £39 per hour (Umbrella) - rate dependent on experience.
Full-time (37 hours/week), Monday to Friday.
Supportive management team and structured supervision.
