Academics is working with a welcoming primary school in Slough that is looking to appoint an SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide tailored support to pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural, and learning support within a nurturing and inclusive school environment.
As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them build confidence, regulate their emotions, and engage positively with learning throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils with SEMH needs through tailored 1:1 and small group interventions
Encouraging children to develop emotional regulation, resilience, and positive coping strategies
Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to deliver consistent support
Implementing behaviour support strategies and contributing to personalised intervention plans
Promoting a positive, inclusive, and emotionally supportive learning environment
Building strong relationships with pupils to encourage engagement, independence, and personal growth
We're looking for someone who:
Is patient, compassionate, and committed to supporting children with additional needs
Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Is proactive, adaptable, and confident working with pupils who require extra emotional support
