Our client is a global engineering and technology business specialising in advanced inspection and detection systems for highly regulated and security-critical environments.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and detail-focused Buyer with experience in a manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for managing purchase orders, developing supplier relationships and ensuring materials and components are delivered in line with cost, quality and delivery expectations.
You will also work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Engineering teams to support new product introduction and wider cost-reduction initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Place, manage and expedite purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance against cost, quality and delivery targets.
Attend procurement and cross-functional meetings at the manufacturing site.
Support new product introduction projects alongside Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering.
Assist the Senior Buyer with negotiations, sourcing activity and supplier reviews.
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
Benchmark supplier pricing and supply chain competitiveness.
Resolve supplier invoice queries and manage internal demand requests.
Maintain purchasing documentation and processes in line with ISO requirements.
Support ongoing procurement and supply chain improvement activities.
Experience Required
A minimum of three years' purchasing or procurement experience.
Previous experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 is highly desirable.
Strong supplier management and relationship-building skills.
Confident communication and negotiation abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Comfortable working predominantly from the office, with some flexibility available.
Package
Salary of approximately £35,000 per annum.
37.5-hour working week.
Temporary maternity cover contract.
