Field Service Technician (Birmingham)

Want to build a career in field service, not just find a job? This role is built around your development.

With extensive training and a clear path to progress behind you, this is a Field Service Technician role for someone who wants to grow into a genuine expert.

As a Field Service Technician, you will service and maintain world-class CNC machinery at customer sites across the Midlands, predominantly in and around Birmingham, and you will be home most nights. What makes this role stand out is the investment in you. You do not need to have worked on machinery before. If you are the kind of person who enjoys working on your car or fixing things at home and you have a genuine feel for how mechanical things work, full product and technical training will do the rest. You will carry out preventative maintenance, diagnose mechanical issues and keep every machine performing at its peak, building your skills steadily until you become the go-to expert in your area. With a clear route to progress within a global organisation, this is a role you can grow into and grow with.

Job Responsibilities

Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance on CNC machinery to minimise downtime
Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults quickly and effectively
Replacing, adjusting and aligning mechanical components to meet specification
Conducting inspections and completing detailed service reports
Providing basic operator guidance to customers following maintenance visits
Liaising with the technical support team when additional expertise is required
Maintaining your tools, equipment and service vehicle to a high standard
Travelling to customer sites within your local patch, with minimal overnight stays
Building your product knowledge through ongoing training and development
Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety requirements
Skills and Experience
To grow into a great Field Service Technician, you will need:

A practical, mechanically minded nature, whether from work or from hobbies such as working on cars, bikes or machinery at home
Hands-on experience with machinery or lathes, which is ideal but genuinely not essential, as full training is provided
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
Comfort travelling within a local patch and dealing with customers on site
A full UK driving licence
A professional approach with good communication skills
Most importantly, a genuine desire to learn and grow, as no electrical or product knowledge is required to start
Pay and Benefits
As a Field Service Technician you will receive:

Salary up to £30,000 depending on experience
OTE circa £37,000 with bonuses
Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week
A company car (example: VW Tiguan or BMW X1)
An annual company performance bonus
A monthly bonus paid per machine sold
Up to 6% matched pension contribution
22 days holiday plus bank holidays
A comprehensive product and technical training programme
