An established Construction, Health & Safety consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced CDM Principal Designer to join its growing team, covering Bristol, the South West and projects across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected consultancy with an outstanding reputation for delivering practical CDM and health & safety advice across a diverse range of sectors, including education, healthcare, aviation, commercial and engineering. You'll enjoy the flexibility of remote working, a varied project portfolio and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with clients while working alongside an experienced team.
The Role
As a CDM Principal Designer, you'll lead the delivery of Principal Designer services across multiple construction projects, ensuring clients meet their obligations under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. You'll work closely with designers, contractors and clients to identify and manage design risks from concept through to project completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
Acting as Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015
Coordinating CDM duties across a wide range of construction projects
Leading design risk reviews and facilitating design team workshops
Advising clients, designers and contractors on CDM compliance and best practice
Preparing and reviewing Pre-Construction Information
Overseeing the production and completion of Health & Safety Files
Identifying and managing design and construction risks throughout the project lifecycle
Supporting clients in meeting their legal responsibilities under CDM and associated legislation
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders
Contributing to the ongoing development of internal processes and service delivery
About You
Proven experience delivering Principal Designer services under CDM 2015
Background in Architecture, Building Surveying, Engineering, Building Services or a related construction discipline
Strong understanding of design risk management and construction health & safety legislation
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Confident leading meetings and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams
Strong report writing and organisational skills
NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
Membership of APS, IOSH or another relevant professional body
Awareness of PAS 8671 and the Building Safety Act 2022 would be advantageous
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the South West and UK when required
