Job Description
The Family Fee Earner undertakes a wide range of family law matters, providing clear and expert legal advice to clients. The role involves managing caseloads efficiently, preparing legal documents, and representing clients in a sensitive and professional manner. The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external parties.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive legal advice and support to clients on family law matters including divorce, financial settlements, child arrangements, adoption, and domestic violence.
Prepare and draught legal documents such as petitions, statements of case, consent orders, and financial statements.
Manage a caseload efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are kept informed of progress.
Conduct client interviews and maintain professional and empathetic client relationships.
Negotiate settlements and liaise with opposing parties, courts, and other agencies.
Attend court hearings and mediations as required, representing the interests of clients under supervision or independently where appropriate.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with firm procedures and regulatory requirements.
Keep abreast of developments in family law and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and professional standards.
Support the wider legal team in developing efficient processes and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience working in Legal Aid would be benficial/preferred.
