Location: Redruth, Cornwall
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Temporary (with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate)
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:45am – 2:00pm | Friday, 9:00am – 2:00pm
Pay: £15.34 per hour

The Supply Register is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming school in Redruth for an experienced School Cook to join the team as soon as possible.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about preparing nutritious meals for children and can maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment. Previous experience in a school or catering setting is desirable, and you'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day running of the school's kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook healthy, balanced meals for pupils.
Plan menus that meet nutritional standards and cater for dietary requirements.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
Monitor food stock levels and complete stock checks.
Ensure all food is stored and prepared safely in line with Food Hygiene regulations.
Carry out routine cleaning of the kitchen, equipment and food preparation areas.
Report any equipment faults or health and safety concerns promptly.
Work within agreed budgets and minimise food waste.
Work closely with school staff to provide an efficient catering service.
Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Cook or Catering Assistant is essential, ideally within a school, care or commercial catering environment.
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
Knowledge of food hygiene, allergen awareness and health and safety procedures.
Ability to prepare meals for varying dietary requirements.
Good organisational and communication skills.
A positive, reliable and flexible approach to work.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Two satisfactory references covering the last two years of employment.
The right to work in the UK.
