The children in the school have a range of mental health needs and therefore need someone who is caring, compassionate and up for a challenge! This is perfect experience if you are interested in a future as a Psychologist.

As a Mental Health Support Assistant, you will be supporting children with anxiety, trauma, OCD, depression, anger issues and attachment difficulties, as well as other additional needs such as Autism and ADHD. There is likely to be challenging behaviour as well as many well being needs, so you need to be proactive and flexible to cater to the needs of each child.

This is a role where no two days are the same! However, your general duties will involve working with small groups of pupils in the classroom, supporting both their emotional needs and learning needs. You will help boost their self-esteem, increase their independence and help them understand their emotions.
