Duty Team Manager – Children's Services
Location: St Helens (Hybrid)
Rate: £26.95 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: Full-time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Duty Team Manager to join Children's Services in St Helens.
This is a fast-paced role leading a Duty Team responsible for responding to all new referrals into Children's Services and completing Children and Family Assessments. You'll manage a team of 6 Social Workers, 1 Social Work Assistant, and an Assistant Team Manager, ensuring high-quality safeguarding practice, timely assessments, and effective care planning.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, supervise, and support a busy Duty Team.
* Oversee the allocation and quality assurance of Children and Family Assessments.
* Provide management oversight of Section 47 investigations and safeguarding decisions.
* Ensure timely progression of cases, including transfers at ICPC, PLO, and care proceedings.
* Monitor performance, manage risk, and promote excellent social work practice.
* Support staff development, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
* Work closely with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children and families.
Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
* Previous management or supervisory experience within Children's Social Care.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, Section 47 investigations, and care planning.
* Experience managing performance, providing supervision, and leading multidisciplinary working.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
You'll be joining a supportive management team alongside three experienced Duty Team Managers, with regular supervision and guidance from the Head of Service.
