Cover Supervisor – Barnsley
Location: Barnsley
Contract: Part-time (2 days per week, 14 hours)
Start Date: September 2026
Duration: Temporary until August 2027

PK Education are working with a well-established secondary school in Barnsley who are looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for somebody looking to gain valuable classroom experience or continue a career in education within a supportive and well-managed school. The role is ideal for aspiring teachers, graduates, experienced Cover Supervisors, or individuals with previous experience working with young people.
As a Cover Supervisor, you'll play a key role in ensuring continuity of learning by delivering pre-planned lessons during teacher absences. You'll work across a variety of subjects, supervising classes, maintaining positive behaviour, and supporting students to remain engaged with their learning.
The school has a strong focus on high standards, positive relationships, and student development, with clear behaviour systems and excellent support from senior leaders and teaching staff.
The Role
Supervising classes across KS3 and KS4 during teacher absence
Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring students remain on task
Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
Supporting students with questions relating to the work set
Recording attendance and reporting any concerns to teaching staff
Assisting with other school duties where required, including exam invigilation
What We're Looking For
Previous experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, youth work, or similar setting
Confident managing groups of students in a classroom environment
Strong communication and organisational skills
Calm, professional, and adaptable approach
A genuine interest in supporting young people's education
