We are supporting a Dover based client who is looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Technician to join their Engineering Maintenance team.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in ensuring a wide range of assets are maintained, repaired, and operating safely and efficiently. You will be working in the Transport team maintaining HGV, mobile cranes, forklift trucks, telehandlers, vehicles and other mobile plant and equipment.
You will also be expected to have a basic knowledge of other assets including Linkspans, Dock Gates, and Mooring equipment.
You will bring strong technical expertise, the ability to diagnose and resolve complex faults, and a proactive, can-do approach to problem solving.

Role and responsibilities of Mechanical Technician
* Carry out maintenance, repair and improvement work across a broad range of site assets
* Diagnose faults on complex equipment and implement effective solutions
* Deliver both planned preventative and reactive maintenance
* Complete inspection reports and maintenance documentation (manual or electronic)
* Conduct statutory inspections and report findings
* Work closely with colleagues to identify recurring faults and recommend improvements
* Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety standards and risk assessments
* Act as lead/coordinator on smaller projects when required
* Support and mentor colleagues and apprentices
Skills, know-how and experience required of Mechanical Technician
* Apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline, ideally in a transport or plant environment to (minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
* At least 3 years’ post-qualification experience
* Experience with HGV, Heavy Plant, mobile hydraulic systems
* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
* Experience reviewing and creating RAMS
* Good IT literacy
* Full UK driving licence
* Welding/fabrication experience (desirable)
