ROLE OVERVIEW

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join a leading organisation in the research and development sector based in Cheshire. This exciting opportunity is ideal for an organised self-starter eager to support scientists in a dynamic research environment, contributing to the development of new procedures and ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory.

As part of a dedicated team, you will play a key role in maintaining laboratory standards and supporting daily scientific activities, helping to drive innovative research projects forward.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your duties as the Laboratory Technician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

• Support the daily running of the research laboratory, ensuring operational efficiency and safety

• Carry out general laboratory housekeeping, including cleaning, maintaining freezer equipment, and managing laboratory glassware

• Ensure the laboratory workspace is kept orderly and that necessary consumables are available for scientific activities

• Collect and dispose of waste daily, ensuring the proper segregation and disposal of hazardous and biological waste

• Prepare standard analytical solutions, buffers, and media used by scientists within the laboratory

• Monitor equipment functionality, report issues to the Facilities Manager, and assist with maintenance activities

• As the Laboratory Technician you will ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Laboratory Technician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

• A qualification at BTEC/HNC/HND/NVQ level in a relevant biological science subject or A levels or equivalent in a scientific discipline

• Proven industry experience working within a laboratory setting

• Practical knowledge of laboratory housekeeping, waste disposal procedures, and preparation of analytical solutions
