Shape the Future of Safety in One of the UK's Leading Data Centre Specialists
At Sudlows, we don't just build critical infrastructure—we deliver some of the UK's most innovative and technically challenging data centre projects. As our business continues to grow across the UK and internationally, we're looking for an exceptional Health & Safety Manager to lead our safety culture and help drive operational excellence.
This is far more than a compliance role.
You'll be a key member of our Senior Management Team, influencing business decisions, leading our Health & Safety function, mentoring a team of advisors, and ensuring our people return home safely every day. You'll have the opportunity to shape strategy, improve systems, and leave a lasting impact across a growing, award-winning business.
If you're passionate about creating positive safety cultures, enjoy working in a fast-paced construction environment, and want a role where your expertise genuinely matters, we'd love to hear from you.
Why Join Sudlows?
✔ Join an award-winning business experiencing sustained growth
✔ Play a strategic leadership role with direct influence across the company
✔ Lead and develop an established Health & Safety team
✔ Work on high-profile, technically complex construction and data centre projects
✔ Opportunity to drive innovation in Health, Safety and Environmental performance
✔ Be part of a collaborative leadership team that values your expertise
✔ Genuine opportunity to make a lasting difference
The Opportunity
As Health & Safety Manager, you'll act as Sudlows' lead competent person for Health, Safety and Environmental Management, ensuring our systems, culture and practices continue to set industry standards.
Reporting into senior leadership, you'll lead the company's HSE strategy while supporting project teams, managers and directors to continually improve performance across multiple sites.
This role combines strategic leadership with practical operational support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys influencing people as much as improving systems.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll:
* Lead and continually improve the company's Health, Safety & Environmental Management Systems
* Champion a proactive safety culture throughout the business
* Lead, coach and develop two Health & Safety Advisors
* Advise Directors and senior leaders on legislation, compliance and best practice
* Maintain ISO management systems and ensure company-wide compliance
* Support operational teams with practical HSE guidance
* Drive continuous improvement through audits, inspections and performance reviews
* Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations
* Deliver engaging training and coaching across the business
* Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and all relevant legislation
* Help reduce environmental impact through sustainable working practices
We're Looking For Someone Who
* Inspires confidence and leads by example
* Can influence at every level of the business
* Enjoys coaching and developing others
* Thrives in a fast-moving construction environment
* Is passionate about creating positive safety cultures—not simply enforcing rules
* Has excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Thinks commercially while maintaining the highest safety standards
Essential Experience
* Significant Health & Safety leadership experience within construction
* Proven experience implementing and improving HSE management systems
* Experience advising Directors and senior stakeholders
* Experience leading and developing teams
* Excellent knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
* Strong investigation, auditing and reporting experience
Qualifications
Essential
* NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
Desirable
* CMIOSH (Chartered Member of IOSH) or working towards
* IEMA qualification or similar Environmental qualification
* Continued professional development
Why This Role Stands Out
You'll have genuine ownership of the Health & Safety function, the autonomy to influence how we operate, and the opportunity to help shape the future of a business that's continuing to grow across the UK and internationally.
