HGV Class 1 Driver – Plant Hire

Location: Leeds
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum
Hours: Full Time | Overtime Paid at 1.5x

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver with a background in the plant hire industry to join a well-established and growing business based in Leeds.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional driver who has experience transporting plant machinery and construction equipment. You'll be responsible for the safe delivery and collection of a wide range of plant hire equipment to customer sites, ensuring high standards of safety, customer service, and compliance are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

* Safely operate a Class 1 (C+E) HGV in line with all DVSA and road transport regulations.

* Deliver and collect plant hire equipment, including excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, and other construction machinery.

* Load, secure, and unload machinery safely using the correct procedures and equipment.

* Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.

* Complete delivery paperwork and transport documentation accurately.

* Liaise professionally with customers, site personnel, and the transport team.

* Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service.

* Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies.

Requirements

* Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.

* Driver CPC qualification.

* Digital Tachograph Card.

* Previous experience transporting plant hire or construction equipment.

* Good understanding of load securing and safe loading/unloading practices.

* Strong knowledge of transport legislation and driver compliance.

* Excellent communication and customer service skills.

* Reliable, professional, and safety-focused approach.

Desirable

* CPCS, NPORS or other plant-related qualifications.

* Experience operating plant machinery for loading and unloading.

* HIAB licence (advantageous but not essential).
