Building Maintenance Engineers – Central London Portfolio

Location: Fitzrovia and surrounding Central London locations
Contract: Permanent, full-time

Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00am-5.00pm
Salary: Extremely Competitive, depending on experience

The Opportunity

A leading facilities management provider has recently secured a prestigious new portfolio of commercial properties across Central London and is now recruiting several experienced Building Maintenance Engineers to join its expanding engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work across high-quality commercial buildings in the Fitzrovia area, carrying out statutory compliance checks, planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to a wide range of mechanical and electrical building services.

We are interested in engineers with either an electrical, mechanical or multi-skilled maintenance background who are confident working within occupied commercial environments.

Typical Daily Duties

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to mechanical and electrical plant.
Completing statutory compliance inspections, testing and maintenance records.
Diagnosing faults and carrying out reactive repairs.
Maintaining plant including AHUs, FCUs, pumps, motors, boilers, calorifiers and ventilation systems.
Basic electrical fault-finding, lighting repairs and emergency lighting checks.
Basic plumbing repairs, including taps, toilets, pipework, valves and drainage.
Monitoring plant performance through BMS systems.
Completing temperature checks, water hygiene tasks and other compliance-related inspections.
Responding promptly to building faults and emergency callouts.
Escorting and monitoring specialist subcontractors where required.
Updating electronic job sheets, compliance records and PPM documentation.
Identifying additional works and reporting defects to the contract management team.
Maintaining a professional and helpful approach when dealing with clients and building occupants.

Experience Required

Previous experience working as a Building Maintenance Engineer within commercial offices, mixed-use properties or similar environments.
Strong experience carrying out both PPM and reactive maintenance.
A recognised electrical, mechanical or building services qualification.
Good knowledge of commercial mechanical and electrical plant.
The ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
A good understanding of statutory compliance and health and safety requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A professional, client-facing approach.
Electrical engineers holding 18th Edition or mechanical engineers with relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications would be highly desirable.
Water hygiene, L8, emergency lighting, fire alarm or HVAC experience would be advantageous.
