Electrical Project Manager

North West / West London | HS2 / Rail Infrastructure | Permanent

£100,000 - £120,000 + package

Package to include car allowance, travel expenses, bonus, private medical insurance, pension, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, laptop and phone.

This is a role for an Electrical Project Manager who understands that rail infrastructure is not the same as standard commercial M&E.

You will be working across major HS2-related infrastructure sites in North West and West London, delivering electrical services across shafts, headhouses, tunnel interfaces, crossover areas, evacuation routes and safety-critical plant spaces.

The works include locations such as Victoria Road Crossover Box and Ancillary Shaft in North West London, Copthall Green Tunnel sites in Hillingdon and Northolt Tunnel ventilation shafts and headhouses around Ealing. The project involves power, ventilation, lighting, emergency access systems and associated services that support the tunnel infrastructure feeding into Old Oak Common and the wider HS2 route.

This is not a trackside role and PTS is not required, but rail or infrastructure experience is important. The project needs someone who understands controlled access, permits, interface management, sequencing around civils works, documentation, safety systems and the level of planning needed when electrical services are being delivered into tunnels, shafts and operationally sensitive areas.

What you’ll be doing

Taking responsibility for the electrical delivery of major HS2-related rail infrastructure works across North West and West London.

Managing electrical services associated with shafts, tunnel interfaces, crossover box areas, tunnel headhouses, ventilation shafts, evacuation points, plant areas, access routes, life safety systems and associated infrastructure spaces.

Supporting the delivery of power, ventilation and lighting services to areas such as the Victoria Road Crossover Box and Ancillary Shaft, allowing trains to switch tracks underground before reaching Old Oak Common.

Coordinating essential electrical services, power and ventilation installations across tunnel headhouses and ventilation shaft sites around Hillingdon.

Managing electrical systems linked to tunnel ventilation, lighting and emergency access across ventilation shafts and headhouses around Ealing and the Northolt Tunnel route.

Coordinating installation works across containment, LV distribution, small power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, communications, security, controls, earthing, bonding, temporary supplies, tunnel services and specialist rail-related electrical systems.

Working closely with the wider project team, including construction managers, supervisors, engineers, design teams, commissioning teams, commercial staff, client representatives, main contractor teams and specialist subcontractors.

Managing programme, procurement, labour, subcontractors, RAMS, permits, technical submissions, RFIs, progress reporting, QA, snagging and handover documentation.

Making sure electrical works are properly planned around access restrictions, shaft logistics, tunnel interfaces, civils sequencing, temporary works, lifting operations and other trades.

Driving subcontractors on site while keeping control of quality, safety, programme and technical coordination.

Supporting design reviews, buildability discussions and technical problem solving before issues affect delivery.

Managing testing, commissioning readiness and handover requirements across electrical, life safety, tunnel support and infrastructure systems.

Keeping a tight grip on documentation, approvals, inspection records, test certification, as-built information and O&M requirements.

What you’ll need

Previous experience as an Electrical Project Manager, Electrical Package Manager, Senior Electrical Project Engineer or Electrical Construction Manager on technically demanding projects.

Experience within rail, infrastructure, tunnelling, stations, transport, utilities, aviation, energy, data centres, pharmaceutical, healthcare or another highly controlled M&E environment.

Rail experience would be strongly preferred. HS2, London Underground, Network Rail, Crossrail, station upgrades, tunnel works, shafts, headhouses, evacuation routes or major transport infrastructure would all be relevant.

PTS is not required, but you will need to understand the discipline that comes with working in a safety-critical infrastructure environment.

Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services and infrastructure systems, including containment, LV distribution, lighting, life safety, fire alarm, communications, security, controls, earthing, bonding and commissioning processes.

The ability to coordinate around civils, structural works, access restrictions, temporary works, logistics, permits, lifting operations, confined or restricted-access areas and multiple subcontractors.

Good commercial awareness, with the ability to manage procurement, change, variations, programme risk and subcontractor performance.

Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with main contractors, clients, consultants, designers, commissioning teams and site delivery teams.

SMSTS, CSCS or ECS and First Aid would be expected.

Why this role

This is a chance to take on a serious electrical project management role within one of the UK’s most important infrastructure programmes.

You will be working across technically demanding tunnel and shaft environments where planning, coordination and technical judgement matter. The role will suit someone who has already delivered electrical services in rail, infrastructure or another highly controlled setting and wants to step into a project with genuine scale, complexity and long-term value.

For an Electrical Project Manager with strong site delivery experience and enough rail understanding to operate properly in this environment, this is a strong move.
