QHSE & Compliance Manager - Chemical Manufacturing
Reporting to the Head of Technical, you will lead all Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental, and Chemical Compliance activities on site. This role is focused on ensuring full regulatory compliance while promoting a strong safety-first culture, supported by an existing team.
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Compliance
Manage and maintain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System
Ensure product quality, traceability, and documentation control
Lead audits (customer, supplier, certification)
Investigate non-conformances and implement CAPA
Support change management processes (MOC)Health & Safety / Process Safety
Ensure compliance with UK legislation (HSE Act, COSHH, DSEAR, COMAH)
Lead risk assessments, hazard identification, and safe systems of work
Oversee Permit-to-Work systems and contractor safety
Lead incident and near-miss investigations using root cause analysis
Deliver training, inductions, and toolbox talks
Act as site lead for emergency response and business continuityEnvironmental & Regulatory
Maintain the Environmental Management System
Ensure compliance with permits, waste, and emissions controls
Monitor environmental performance and drive improvements
Ensure compliance with REACH, CLP, and COSHH regulations
Maintain SDS and ensure correct classification, labelling, and storage
Liaise with regulators (HSE, Environment Agency) and support inspections
Support new product introduction from a compliance perspectiveEssential Requirements
Experience in a QHSE role within chemical manufacturing
Strong knowledge of UK H&S and chemical regulations
Experience with ISO systems and audits
Proven ability in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety leadership
Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders
Detail-oriented with a practical, safety-first approach

NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma
