We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our established SME main contracting client. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional who enjoys working across the full project lifecycle while playing a key role in securing and delivering projects for public sector clients. Their work includes refurbishment, alteration, and improvement projects across sectors including education, healthcare, local authorities, and other public sector organisations.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account. You will also support our business development and bidding activities, helping us maintain and expand our presence on public sector frameworks.

Key responsibilities include:

Preparing cost estimates, tenders, and pricing submissions
Managing procurement and subcontractor packages
Monitoring project costs, valuations, variations, and final accounts
Producing accurate financial reporting and forecasts
Supporting the preparation of framework submissions, PQQs, SQs, and tender responses
Assisting with written quality responses for public sector bids and framework applications
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
Working closely with operational teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
Supporting continuous improvement of commercial and tendering processesAbout You

We are looking for someone who can bring both strong commercial capability and a proactive approach to client engagement and tendering. You will ideally have:

A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
Experience working for a main contractor, ideally within refurbishment and small-to-medium value projects (sweet spot £4million)
Strong knowledge of procurement, cost control, valuations, and final accounts
Experience preparing tender submissions and public sector bid documentation
Understanding of public sector frameworks and procurement processes
Excellent written communication skills, particularly for quality submissions and tender responses
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
