The Role and School

We are recruiting for experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across a range of welcoming and supportive primary schools throughout Wakefield

This is an excellent opportunity for confident and motivated individuals who can take a leading role in the classroom, support teaching and learning across different year groups, and make a positive impact on pupils' educational development.

Key Responsibilities

Lead whole-class learning in the absence of the class teacher
Deliver targeted intervention programmes across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
Support teachers with lesson planning, preparation, and assessment activities
Provide guidance and support to Teaching Assistants and other support staff
Assist in creating an engaging, inclusive, and positive learning environment
Support pupils with varying learning needs to achieve their full potential

Requirements

HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
Level 6 qualification or relevant degree in Childhood Studies, Education, or a related field
Strong classroom management and leadership skills
Experience working across primary key stages
Excellent communication and organisational abilities

The Ideal Candidate Will

Have experience working with primary-aged children
Be patient, caring, and committed to supporting pupil progress and wellbeing
Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
Be adaptable, proactive, and able to use their initiative
Be confident supporting both individual learners and whole-class activities
Have a positive and enthusiastic approach to education
