Geotechnical Design Engineer
Location: Reading
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000
Are you a Geotechnical Design Engineer with at least one year's experience looking to develop your career on major rail and infrastructure projects?
A growing engineering consultancy in Reading is looking for a Geotechnical Design Engineer to join its expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of rail projects while developing your technical expertise alongside experienced engineers. With structured training, ongoing support and clear career progression, you'll be encouraged to take on increasing responsibility as your experience grows.
The Role
Assist in the design of foundations, retaining walls, slopes and earthworks.
Interpret ground investigation data and prepare geotechnical assessments.
Produce geotechnical calculations and technical reports.
Support the delivery of rail and infrastructure projects from concept through to construction.
Work closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.
Attend client and project meetings where required.
Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and project requirements.
Contribute to technically challenging projects across the UK.
Requirements
Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline.
At least one year's experience within geotechnical design.
Experience preparing technical reports and undertaking geotechnical assessments.
An interest in working on rail and infrastructure projects.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Full UK driving licence is desirable.
