An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, resilient, and dedicated Teacher of PSHE & Humanities to join a highly supportive and specialist educational setting in the Colchester area.

This rewarding role would suit a teacher who is committed to making a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people with additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, SEND, and those who may have experienced trauma and adversity.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and nurturing team focused on creating positive learning experiences, developing confidence and independence, and supporting pupils to achieve both academically and personally.

The Role

The school is seeking a committed classroom practitioner who can deliver engaging PSHE and Humanities lessons while supporting pupils' wider emotional, social, and educational development.

Key responsibilities include:

Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons

Supporting pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs

Monitoring, assessing, and reporting on pupil progress

Acting as a Form Tutor and key contact for families

Contributing to EHCP reviews, pastoral support plans, and progress reports

Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

Working collaboratively with parents, external agencies, and wider school staff

Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and child protection

There may also be opportunities to contribute to wider curriculum areas and enrichment activities.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience teaching Humanities and/or PSHE

A strong understanding of SEND and inclusive practice

Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills

A nurturing, resilient, and adaptable approach

Strong communication and organisational abilities

Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

Experience within SEMH, alternative provision, or specialist settings would be advantageous, although strong mainstream practitioners with a passion for SEND are encouraged to apply.
