We are looking for a motivated and skilled Support Radiographer to join our Post-Mortem CT (PMCT) Imaging Service. This is a unique opportunity to work within a specialist forensic environment, delivering high-quality imaging services that support coronial and forensic investigations.
You will play a key role in performing PMCT scans on deceased individuals, supporting the daily running of the service, and deputising for the Lead Radiographer when required. The role offers exposure to complex and varied cases, including forensic, trauma, and major incident work.
Role of a Support Radiographer:
* Performing post-mortem CT scans to national and professional standards
* Supporting the day-to-day delivery of a specialist imaging service
* Working closely with multidisciplinary teams including Pathologists, Radiologists, Coroners, and Police
* Maintaining accurate imaging and case records using PACS and mortuary systems
* Supporting audits, quality assurance, and service improvement initiatives
* Assisting with safe handling and preparation of the deceased
* Contributing to training, teaching, and research activity where appropriate
Requirements for Support Radiographer:
* Degree/Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
* HCPC registration
* Experience in CT scanning
* Minimum 6 months post-qualification experience
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
* Commitment to high standards, quality, and continuous professional development
* Experience or interest in post-mortem or forensic imaging
* Knowledge of PMCT techniques (e.g. angiography, ventilated PMCT)
* Experience working in a mortuary or with deceased patients
* Understanding of the UK coronial system
* Teaching, research, or audit experience
* Postgraduate qualification (or working towards one)
