The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation delivering some of the UK's most significant nuclear decommissioning, waste management, and infrastructure programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established electrical engineering professional to take on a technical leadership role, supporting complex projects within highly regulated environments. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical design solutions that meet stringent safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across the nuclear lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of electrical engineering design packages for nuclear facilities and infrastructure projects.
Produce, review, and verify electrical designs and technical documentation.
Design and assess:

LV power distribution systems
Earthing and bonding systems
Lighting systems
Fire detection systems
Security systems

Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, reports, and supporting documentation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, civil, structural, process, and safety engineers.
Manage technical interfaces with suppliers, contractors, and key project stakeholders.
Support design assurance, verification, validation, and configuration management activities.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, project requirements, and regulatory expectations.

About the Projects

You will support major programmes across the UK nuclear sector, working on projects involving:

Nuclear decommissioning and waste management
Facility upgrades and operational improvements
Critical infrastructure and utility systems
Power distribution networks
New-build support facilities
Safety-critical engineering solutions
Working in a highly regulated environment, you will play a key role in ensuring designs meet nuclear safety case requirements while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and traceability.

About You

Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (BEng, MEng or equivalent).
Significant electrical design engineering experience within nuclear, defence, energy, utilities, or other highly regulated industries.
Strong understanding of UK electrical engineering standards and design governance processes.
Experience producing and checking electrical calculations, specifications, and design documentation.
Knowledge of design verification, technical assurance, and configuration management.
Experience using electrical design software such as Amtech, Trimble ProDesign, or similar.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or working towards professional registration, would be advantageous.
