SEN Teaching Assistant – Barking & Dagenham

Full-Time | Term Time Only

Job Summary

We are recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join one of our welcoming partner mainstream primary schools in Barking & Dagenham. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with Special Educational Needs in a rewarding, full-time role within a supportive and inclusive school environment.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs. You will provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom, helping pupils to access learning, develop confidence, and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN.
Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging learning activities.
Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs.
Encourage positive behaviour and promote an inclusive learning environment.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.

Requirements

Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
Knowledge of additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, or speech and language needs is desirable.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
