Salary: £18 – £20 per hour (depending on experience)

Working Hours: 9:30am – 6:30pm plus additional hours

About the Role

Complete Classroom Services is seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly organised School Premises Manager to oversee the maintenance, security, compliance, and operational management of educational premises across Enfield and surrounding North London areas.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring school buildings and grounds are safe, secure, well maintained, and fully compliant with relevant regulations. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring excellent facilities management skills, strong knowledge of health and safety, and the ability to coordinate contractors, maintenance programmes, and site improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the day-to-day operation of school premises, ensuring buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard.

* Oversee site security, including opening and closing procedures, alarm systems, and access control.

* Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, fire safety requirements, and statutory building regulations.

* Develop and implement planned preventative maintenance programmes.

* Coordinate and supervise contractors, service providers, and maintenance staff.

* Manage maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.

* Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments, identifying and addressing maintenance or safety concerns.

* Monitor and maintain building services, including heating, lighting, plumbing, and security systems.

* Maintain accurate records of inspections, compliance checks, servicing schedules, and maintenance activities.

* Support school leadership teams with premises planning, capital projects, and facilities improvements.

* Ensure school grounds remain safe, secure, and presentable at all times.

* Respond effectively to emergency maintenance issues and site-related incidents.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

* Previous experience as a School Premises Manager, Site Manager, Facilities Manager, Estates Manager, or in a similar role within the education sector.

* Strong practical maintenance knowledge across building fabric, plumbing, electrical systems, and general repairs.

* Good understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements within educational settings.

* Experience managing contractors, maintenance schedules, and site projects.

* Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.

* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

* Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and digital compliance systems.

* Good physical fitness and willingness to undertake practical site duties when required.

* A professional, proactive, and flexible approach to work.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

* IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.

* Experience working within a school, academy, college, or educational environment.

* Trade qualifications in a relevant discipline.

* Knowledge of safeguarding requirements within schools.

* Experience managing refurbishment or facilities improvement projects.
