We are seeking a Payroll Administrator to join our client in South Normanton, Derbyshire. This part-time role is ideal for someone who thrives on accuracy, compliance, and working with payroll systems in a fast-paced environment.
You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining compliant records, and supporting the organisation with payroll-related administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities for the Payroll Administrator
* Process weekly and/or monthly payroll in line with deadlines, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
* Validate timesheets, driver hours, tachograph data, overtime, holiday pay, and other variable pay elements
* Accurately calculate statutory payments and deductions, including SSP, SMP, SPP, and attachment orders
* Process pension contributions in line with scheme requirements
* Prepare and reconcile payroll reports and journals for Finance
* Maintain and update payroll records, including new starters, leavers, and contract changes
* Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements, including tax codes and RTI submissions
* Maintain thorough payroll records to support audit and internal controls
* Ensure GDPR compliance when handling sensitive payroll data
* Respond to payroll queries from employees and stakeholders professionally
* Work collaboratively with Operations, HR, and Finance teams
* Process and manage expenses with relevant approvals
* Handle monthly submissions (FPS, EPS, RTI, PAYE, Apprenticeship Levy)
* Support year-end payroll processing and HMRC submissions
Person Specification for the Payroll Administrator
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in payroll administration
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC processes
* Experience using payroll software (e.g., Sage, BrightPay, Xero, or similar)
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
