Our client owns and operates the Fawley Refinery and is investing in a brand-new fabrication workshop. They are seeking a skilled and experienced Pipework Fabricator to support refinery operations, based within this new, purpose-built workshop facility.
This role is focused on the fabrication of pipework systems in a controlled workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Fabricate ferrous and non-ferrous pipework from isometric drawings and technical specifications using appropriate workshop tools and machinery, typically ranging from ½" to 12" diameter.
Carry out all stages of fabrication including cutting, bevelling, preparing, and assembling pipework components prior to welding.
Accurately mark out, measure, and align pipework to meet required tolerances and specifications.
Assemble pipework systems using appropriate techniques, including tacking and fit-up, in preparation for welding.
Conduct inspection and basic testing of fabricated pipework to ensure compliance with drawings and quality standards.
Collaborate closely with welders to ensure correct joint preparation and overall fabrication quality.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with workshop procedures, engineering standards, and UK regulations.
Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and quality at all times.
Keep the workshop environment safe, clean, and well organised.Requirements
Proven experience as a Pipework Fabricator in a workshop environment, with strong hands-on fabrication capability.
Demonstrable experience fabricating pipework from raw materials, including cutting, grinding, bevelling, and fit-up.
Strong working knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous materials e.g. carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys.
Ability to accurately interpret isometric drawings and translate them into fabricated pipe assemblies with minimal supervision.
Skilled in marking out, dimensional control, and alignment to meet fabrication tolerances.
Experience using standard fabrication workshop equipment such as band saws, grinders, pipe bevellers, and similar machinery.
Good understanding of weld preparations, joint configurations, and supporting welding activities.
Relevant apprenticeship or formal qualification in fabrication e.g. NVQ / SVQ Level 3 in Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
Strong awareness of QA/QC standards and fabrication best practices within a workshop environment.
Experience working to permit systems and maintaining high health and safety standards.
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively within a team.Additional Information
