Long-term progression opportunities within a people-focused manufacturing business Key Responsibilities
Lead the engineering team on shift, ensuring work is prioritised and completed safely and effectively
Support and develop engineers and apprentices within the shift team
Respond to breakdowns and carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding across production machinery
Ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities are completed effectively
Improve machine reliability, engineering standards and equipment performance
Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maintain operational output
Support engineering activity across manufacturing machinery, services and automated systems
Assist with machinery installations, automation projects and site improvements
Use engineering systems to monitor machinery performance and support maintenance activity
Maintain accurate engineering records, repairs, breakdown logs and maintenance documentation
Ensure safe systems of work, permits, hygiene standards and food safety procedures are followed
Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve reliability and performance
Ensure clear and effective shift handovers Machinery & Equipment
The role will involve working across a variety of manufacturing and site equipment including:
Ovens
Chillers and refrigeration equipment
Compressors
Depositors
Ball chop equipment
CIP systems (including cream valves)
Checkweighers
X-ray equipment
Metal detectors
Production and packaging machinery
Automated systems and new equipment installations About You
You will be a hands-on, electrically biased engineering professional with previous supervisory, or team leadership experience gained within manufacturing.
Essential:
Minimum Level 3 Engineering qualification (or equivalent)
Strong electrical fault-finding ability and electrical bias
Previous leadership experience within engineering, maintenance or shift supervision
UK food manufacturing experience
Strong reactive and preventative maintenance experience
Comfortable leading a team while remaining hands-on technically Desirable:
Experience supporting apprentices or developing engineering teams
Exposure to automation, machinery upgrades or installation projects
Experience using engineering performance systems/CMMS software
