Location: Medway, Kent
Contract: Temporary (approx. 3 months)
Rate: Up to £15.06
Hours: Full-time

About the Role:

Our Client is seeking an experienced Rehousing Officer to join their Housing Needs team on a initial three‑month assignment. This role is focused on supporting individuals and families in housing need, with a strong emphasis on placing homeless households into suitable temporary accommodation.

You will play a key role in delivering a responsive and effective rehousing service, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met while providing practical support and advice to vulnerable households.

Key Responsibilities:

* Identify and secure suitable temporary accommodation for homeless households

* Conduct visits to households to arrange tenancy sign‑ups and support Housing Benefit applications

* Provide welfare advice and support to customers in housing need

* Manage rent accounts, ensuring income is maximised and appropriate support is offered where needed

* Assess social housing applications in line with allocations policy, including investigation and verification

* Maintain accurate records on internal housing systems

* Offer proactive advice and guidance to applicants in line with statutory duties and housing policies

* Plan and coordinate both immediate and future placements, ensuring efficient use of available accommodation

* Liaise with stakeholders and partners to support service delivery and positive outcomes

About You:

* Previous experience in housing, homelessness or rehousing services

* Strong understanding of housing legislation and allocation processes

* Experience working with vulnerable individuals and households

* Excellent organisational and case management skills

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to manage a varied workload and work under pressure

* Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
