DevOps/Infrastructure Operations Engineer

Overview

We are looking for a skilled DevOps/Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join a delivery-focused team on a 3-month contract. This role will support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of secure, cloud-based infrastructure within a highly regulated environment.

You will play a key role in ensuring platform reliability, performance, and security, while supporting development teams through automation and efficient DevOps practices. The role is remote-first, with occasional site visits as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and improve cloud-based infrastructure environments (AWS preferred)
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient and reliable software delivery
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security, proactively addressing issues
• Implement and maintain infrastructure as code ( IaC ) solutions
• Collaborate with development teams to streamline deployment processes and resolve environment issues
• Support incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
• Ensure infrastructure adheres to security and compliance standards
• Automate operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering roles
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• Proven knowledge of CI/CD tools (eg, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (eg, Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong Scripting or automation skills (eg, Bash, Python)
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (eg, CloudWatch, Prometheus, ELK stack)
• Strong understanding of system reliability, scalability, and security principles
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively

Desirable Skills

• Experience in highly regulated or secure environments
• Knowledge of networking principles and security best practices
• Familiarity with configuration management tools (eg, Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
• Experience supporting microservices architectures
• Exposure to incident management frameworks (eg, ITIL)
