Senior/Principal DevOps/CloudOps EngineerOverview
We are looking for an experienced Senior/Principal DevOps/CloudOps Engineer to join our team to design, build, and maintain a standardized DevOps framework that enables the deployment of reliable, scalable, high-performing, and secure services into production.
This individual will work as part of a Product Squad, collaborating closely with Engineering, Product, and QA teams. Beyond the squad, you will partner with Service Reliability, Information Security, Architecture, Production Enablement, Observability, and Service Delivery teams.
This is a highly technical, hands-on role with approximately:
- 75% focused on designing and evolving the DevOps framework.
- 25% focused on implementation, adoption, and enablement.
You will improve and redesign existing CI/CD pipelines, implement industry best practices, and leverage modern tooling to automate deployments across Development, QA, Release Management, and Information Security. You will play a key role in removing delivery friction, enabling engineering teams to deploy autonomously, and driving continuous improvements across the software delivery life cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and continuously improve enterprise-scale CI/CD pipelines across Global Technology.
- Select and implement the appropriate DevOps tooling to support automation and platform standardisation.
- Onboard product teams onto the CI/CD platform and ensure a seamless developer experience.
- Enable observability for services across multiple environments through monitoring and telemetry best practices.
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud infrastructure aligned with Information Security standards.
- Support cloud and infrastructure incident management, ensuring rapid service restoration.
- Develop mechanisms that provide transparent and granular visibility into cloud costs and resource utilisation (FinOps).
- Ensure infrastructure components remain current by managing upgrades and enabling development teams to maintain supported versions.
- Champion DevOps best practices and drive automation across development, testing, release, and operations.
- Maintain the roadmap for pipeline enhancements, platform capabilities, and technology upgrades in line with product and engineering roadmaps.
- Advocate for engineering autonomy by enabling teams to deploy services and workloads into production independently.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Subject Matter Expert in DevOps, Cloud Operations, and FinOps.
- Strong experience working within AWS cloud environments.
- Expertise in designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform.
- Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines from the ground up and continuously improving them using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Experience working with monorepositories (monorepos) and scaling pipelines to support large engineering organisations with parallel deployments.
- Strong understanding of configuration management, service management, and release management with a focus on automation.
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies across multiple environments.
- Proficiency in Scripting and automation using languages such as Bash and Python.
- Strong understanding of cloud security and Information Security best practices throughout the software development life cycle.
Desirable
- Experience implementing observability and monitoring solutions.
- Knowledge of cloud cost optimisation and resource governance.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud platforms and DevOps transformations.
What You'll Bring
- A collaborative approach to working across multiple engineering and business teams.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- A passion for automation, platform engineering, and continuous improvement.
- The ability to influence engineering best practices and drive DevOps adoption across the organisation.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
