Support Worker – Days

Location: Handsworth Wood, Birmingham
Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Day shifts
Contract: Permanent / Temp-to-perm opportunity

Brookes HC Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Support Worker to join a specialist residential care home in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham.

The service supports 13 male residents with mental health needs, learning disabilities, complex needs and behaviours that may challenge. Some residents are deaf, hard of hearing or non-verbal, so previous exposure to BSL or alternative communication methods would be highly desirable.

The Role:

As a Support Worker, you will support residents with day-to-day living, emotional wellbeing, independence and community engagement.

Duties will include:

* Supporting residents with daily routines and personal care where required

* Encouraging independence, choice and dignity

* Supporting residents with mental health needs, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours

* Using clear communication and adapting your approach to individual needs

* Supporting residents who may be deaf, hard of hearing or non-verbal

* Assisting with activities, appointments and community access

* Following care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans

* Recording accurate daily notes and reporting any concerns

* Working as part of a supportive team to provide safe, person-centred care

The Candidate:

We are looking for someone who has:

* Previous experience in care, support work or mental health services

* Experience supporting adults with mental health needs, learning disabilities, autism or challenging behaviours

* A calm, patient and resilient approach

* Good communication skills

* Confidence working in a male residential setting

* Flexibility to work full-time day shifts

* BSL exposure or experience supporting deaf, hard of hearing or non-verbal individuals would be a strong advantage
