Health & Safety Officer
West Bromwich
Salary: £32,000 per annum
Job Type: Full Time | Permanent
We are currently recruiting for a motivated and hands-on Health & Safety Officer to support our manufacturing operation and help maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in manufacturing who enjoys working closely with people, promoting safe working practices and ensuring health and safety standards are met across the site.
You'll work alongside managers and employees to encourage a positive safety culture while helping to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Support the day-to-day management of health and safety across the manufacturing site.
Carry out risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are in place.
Assist in developing and reviewing safe systems of work.
Deliver toolbox talks and provide guidance on health and safety best practice.
Promote a positive safety culture by educating employees on safe working procedures.
Complete regular workplace inspections and identify areas for improvement.
Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, recording findings and recommending preventative actions.
Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation.
Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are followed throughout the business.
Work with managers to continuously improve health and safety standards.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within a manufacturing environment.
A good understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice.
Experience carrying out risk assessments and implementing safe systems of work.
Confidence delivering toolbox talks and communicating with employees at all levels.
A practical, proactive approach with excellent organisational skills.
Good IT and record-keeping skills.
A NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent qualification) would be advantageous.
Desirable (but not essential)
Some knowledge or experience of HR processes or supporting HR activities.
