Job Summary
We are looking for a Building Services Engineer to follow the RIBA plan of work and support the design, analysis, and delivery of mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) building systems. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys turning design concepts into practical, sustainable, and compliant engineering solutions, while working closely with colleagues, clients, and project teams throughout the project life cycle. The role offers the chance to contribute to high-quality project delivery through a combination of technical knowledge, digital design skills, and on-site support.

Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Design: Develop thoughtful, low-carbon mechanical or electrical designs from early concepts through to final construction details, helping bring each project vision to life in a practical and sustainable way.
- Modelling & Physics: Prepare accurate engineering calculations, load assessments, and detailed 3D coordination models using Revit (BIM) and AutoCAD, supporting wellinformed design decisions across each project.
- Compliance & Safety: Support the delivery of designs that meet relevant Building Regulations, Industry Guidances/Standards, BREEAM requirements, and safety standards under the Building Safety Act, contributing to safe, compliant, and highquality project outcomes.
- Project Documentation: Prepare clear and detailed technical specifications, project briefs, material schedules, and performance reports that support clients and project teams throughout delivery.
- Collaboration: Work closely with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and wider project teams, building positive working relationships and contributing to joinedup and effective project delivery.
- Customer Service: Provide friendly, responsive support to clients throughout the project life cycle, answering technical queries clearly, managing expectations thoughtfully, and building strong working relationships through a high standard of service.
- On-Site Inspections: Independently travel to and assist with project site visits, surveys, progress reviews, responses to technical queries, and commissioning support, helping ensure designs are delivered effectively in practice.
- Process Compliance: Follow the company's established processes and ways of working, helping to create consistency across the team, support colleagues, and ensure projects are delivered smoothly and to a high standard.
- Performance & KPIs: Take ownership of your contribution to the business's three key KPIs, recognising that meeting these measures is an important part of every team member's role. Work consistently to deliver high standards, support team performance, and help the business achieve its wider goals.

Skills & Experience Technical Skills
- Sector Experience: Ideally 5 years' experience with a minimum of 3 years experience post graduate/qualifaction experience within an MEP design consultancy or dedicated design-and-build contractor environment, with a good understanding of project delivery in practice.
- Technical Software: Good working knowledge of industry-standard software, including Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant calculation tools such as SAP, iSBEM, IESVE, Hevacomp, Dialux, or Amtech.
- Low-Carbon Knowledge: A sound understanding of building physics, passive design principles, heat pump technology, and renewable energy solutions, with an interest in supporting low-carbon project outcomes. Behavioural Competencies
- Collaborative Mindset: Works positively across mechanical, electrical, and wider project disciplines, contributing to joined-up thinking and helping the team deliver wellcoordinated building design solutions.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Looks ahead to identify potential design clashes, regulatory challenges, or site issues early, and responds with practical, thoughtful solutions that support smooth project delivery.
- Client-Centric Communication: Communicates complex technical information in a clear and accessible way, helping clients, architects, and project teams understand engineering decisions with confidence.
- Adaptability & Continuous Learning: Shows a positive approach to learning, staying open to new technologies, evolving software platforms, and changes in industry guidance and building regulations.
- Accountability & Integrity: Takes responsibility for the quality and accuracy of their work, recognising the importance of safe, compliant, and well-considered engineering decisions.
- Commercial Awareness: Understands the commercial context of project delivery, balancing quality, sustainability, and technical ambition with programme, budget, and client expectations.
- Feedback & Continuous Improvement: Actively seeks and responds positively to both internal and external feedback, using it to strengthen working relationships, support personal development, and continuously improve the quality of work delivered.

Qualifications & Education
- Degree: A degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related built-environment discipline, providing a strong foundation for this role.
- Professional Standing: Membership, or a willingness to work towards membership, with a recognised professional institution such as CIBSE, IET, or IMechE.
- Chartership Status: An interest in, or progress towards, achieving Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status would be welcomed
