The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for delivering commercial and cost management services throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. Working closely with clients, contractors, and project teams, you will ensure projects are delivered on budget while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and client service.
You will play a key role in supporting senior colleagues while managing your own portfolio of projects and contributing to the continued success of the consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver quantity surveying and cost management services from project inception through to completion.
Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and detailed cost plans.
Manage procurement processes, including tender documentation and contractor evaluations.
Prepare contract documentation and administer contracts.
Monitor project costs, valuations, and financial reporting.
Assess and negotiate variations, claims, and final accounts.
Provide accurate commercial advice and cost reporting to clients.
Attend client meetings, site visits, and project reviews.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
Ensure projects are delivered in line with quality, programme, and budget expectations.
About You
The successful candidate will be a motivated and commercially minded Quantity Surveyor with consultancy experience and a passion for delivering exceptional client service.
You will be an excellent communicator with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Requirements
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
Experience working within a construction consultancy or consultancy environment.
Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management.
Experience delivering projects across one or more construction sectors.
Excellent cost planning, procurement, and contract administration skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant quantity surveying software.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Chartered status (MRICS) or actively working towards chartership.
Experience across sectors such as commercial, residential, education, healthcare, industrial, or mixed-use developments.
Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
