About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced FLT Driver (Counterbalance) to join a leading automotive manufacturing and logistics operation based in Washington, Sunderland. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced production environment, supporting the movement of materials and components essential to the manufacturing process.
The successful candidate will hold a valid Counterbalance FLT licence and have previous experience operating forklifts within a manufacturing, automotive, or warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck safely and efficiently.
* Loading and unloading deliveries, ensuring goods are handled correctly.
* Supplying production lines with automotive components and raw materials.
* Transporting finished goods between warehouse and production areas.
* Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
* Ensuring stock is stored accurately and safely within designated locations.
* Completing associated paperwork and stock control documentation.
* Adhering to all health and safety procedures and site regulations.
* Supporting general warehouse and production activities when required.
* Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
Candidate Requirements
* Valid and in-date Counterbalance FLT licence (RTITB, ITSSAR or equivalent).
* Previous experience operating Counterbalance FLTs within a manufacturing, automotive, or logistics environment.
* Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to follow work instructions and meet production targets.
* Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
* Experience with SAP, warehouse management systems, or stock control processes would be advantageous.
Desired Skills & Experience
* Automotive sector experience.
* Line-feed or production support experience.
* Experience loading and unloading HGVs.
* Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Just-In-Time (JIT) processes.
* Additional FLT licences (Reach, VNA, etc.) would be beneficial but are not essential
