Mental Health Teaching Assistant - Corby
Tradewind Recruitment is seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistants to support pupils across schools in the Corby area.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals with experience in education, youth work, mental health support, social care, counselling, psychology, or related fields. You will play a vital role in supporting students who may be facing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, helping them to engage positively with their education and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
Build positive and trusting relationships with students to promote wellbeing and engagement
Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviours, and challenges within the school environment
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external professionals
Encourage positive behaviour and help implement individual support plans
Assist students in developing confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation skills
Support learning activities and help create an inclusive and nurturing environment
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who:
Have experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults
Have an interest in mental health, psychology, counselling, social work, or education
Are patient, empathetic, and able to remain calm under pressure
Possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Are passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning
Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to apply for one
