Carmichael UK are recruiting for a Site Engineer to join a leading earthworks contractor delivering works on a major section of the HS2 programme in Aylesbury. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer to gain exposure to large-scale earthworks, machine control technology and the delivery of one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects.
The Role
As Site Engineer, you will support the successful delivery of large-scale earthworks operations, ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards. Working closely with the site management team, you will provide engineering support throughout all phases of construction.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out GNSS site surveys and engineering setting out for earthworks operations.
Support earthworks activities using batter rails, travellers and visualisation stakeouts.
Review and validate 3D machine control models used on automated earthmoving equipment.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and works information to determine suitable construction methods.
Prepare and maintain essential project documentation including RAMS, ITPs, check sheets and quality records.
Manage quality assurance processes and ensure inspections and testing requirements are completed.
Undertake soil quality assessments including moisture content and plasticity testing.
Support short-term planning activities to help maintain efficient project delivery.
Identify and report potential contractual issues and variations.
Maintain accurate site records, sketches and engineering documentation
