Job Title: Esports and ICT Teacher
Location: Smallbrook School, Shrewsbury, SY4 3HE
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | 8.45am – 4.20pm
Salary: Up to £42,000.00 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: September 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Esports and ICT Teacher / Instructor to use technology and gaming as powerful tools for engagement. This role is ideal for someone who can inspire pupils to reconnect with learning while building confidence, resilience, and essential life skills through creative and meaningful digital experiences.

Key responsibilities include:

Plan and deliver adapted ICT and Esports sessions linked to EHCP outcomes

Develop pupils’ digital literacy, teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills

Use Esports as a tool to improve engagement, attendance and emotional regulation

Contribute to a broad and balanced curriculum, including vocational pathways

Support pupils’ personal development and preparation for future pathways

What we are looking for:

Essential:

Experience working with pupils in SEN or SEMH settings

A strong interest in ICT, gaming or digital learning

Ability to build positive and trusting relationships

A calm, resilient and consistent approach to behaviour

Desirable:

QTS/QTLS or willingness to work towards a teaching qualification

Experience delivering ICT or vocational learning

Understanding of trauma-informed practice

Knowledge of Esports within an educational context

About Us

Smallbrook School is currently increasing capacity from 50 students to 80 and having a large investment in our school site developing KS2 and sixth form provision. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7-18 with a range of complex needs including a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.

You will contribute to making Smallbrook School an outstanding provision for our young people and their families. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment and are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.

Our School is based halfway between Shrewsbury and Wem in Shropshire.
