Overview
A leading operator of flexible power generation assets is seeking an experienced Plant Operations & Maintenance Engineer to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of gas-fired power generation sites. The role focuses on maximising plant availability, carrying out maintenance and fault-finding activities, supporting commissioning of new assets, and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate, maintain and troubleshoot reciprocating gas engine power generation equipment.
* Ensure safe and efficient plant operation in line with operating procedures and OEM guidance.
* Maximise plant availability and respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
* Carry out inspections, repairs, reporting and maintenance record management.
* Identify, resolve and escalate technical and safety issues as required.
* Liaise with the operations team regarding plant performance and availability.
* Supervise contractors and support site activities during commissioning and handover of new projects.
* Participate in an on-call rota and attend emergency breakdowns when required.
Requirements
* Extensive hands-on experience with reciprocating gas engines/generators, including maintenance and fault diagnosis.
* Strong understanding of asset optimisation and plant reliability.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider operations team.
* Experience supervising contractors and third-party service providers.
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
* Knowledge of peaking power plants and asset management systems would be advantageous
