A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Islington is looking to appoint an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated support team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils who have a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will be confident supporting children with challenging behaviour and committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential in a safe, nurturing and structured environment.
The Role
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
Support pupils both in the classroom and during interventions
Implement individual support plans and behaviour strategies
Encourage positive behaviour, independence and engagement with learning
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and their families
Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
Essential Requirements
Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant within a school setting
Positive Handling training (Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA or equivalent) is essential
Experience supporting children with Autism, SEMH, ADHD or other additional needs
Confident managing behaviours that challenge using positive behaviour support strategies
Calm, resilient and patient approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
