We are looking for skilled and reliable individuals with prior experience installing water meters or closely related utilities installation work. In this role, you will travel to domestic and commercial properties to install screw-in and inline water meters. Where a meter cannot be fitted, you will complete detailed and accurate site surveys to support our dig teams with follow-on excavation and installation works, ensuring all information required for planning, permitting and successful installation is captured.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct field-based installation of screw-in and inline water meters.
* Travel to customer sites using a company van and follow planned daily routes.
* Complete detailed site surveys when immediate installation is not possible.
* Record the precise location of the existing meter, including What3Words (W3W) location references.
* Take clear photographs of the meter, its surrounding location, and views both up and down the road to provide accurate information for planners, permit teams and excavation crews.
* Assess and record whether traffic management is required and specify the appropriate type.
* Measure and record the size of the existing meter using company-issued measuring tools.
* Submit accurate digital reports, survey information and photographs using handheld devices.
* Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures.
* Interact professionally with customers and represent the company positively.
* Maintain tools, equipment and the company vehicle.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Previous experience installing water meters or closely related experience in utilities, water networks, plumbing or metering.
* Confident using tools and working in a hands-on, outdoor environment.
* Experience carrying out accurate site surveys and recording detailed field information.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable (training can be provided if needed):
* Streetworks (NRSWA) / EUSR certification.
* SHEA Water qualification.
* Experience in water networks, excavations or field engineering.
* Experience using handheld digital devices, GPS/What3Words and photographic reporting
