Smart Teachers is recruiting a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work in a welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Hackney from June/July 2026
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers or experienced Cover Supervisors looking to gain valuable classroom experience in a supportive school environment.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with the work that has been set. You will play an important role in maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting students to achieve their best.
Key responsibilities include:
Supervising classes across a range of secondary subjects.
Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring students remain on task.
Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy.
Providing feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and lesson outcomes.
Supporting the wider school community and contributing to a positive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Have experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting.
Be confident managing groups of students independently.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate strong behaviour management and organisational skills.
Be flexible, reliable and adaptable.
Hold a degree or relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
