Manual Tester - CESA Legacy (SFIA 5)

Location: Telford
Site Presence: Min 2 x monthly
Rate: £500 - £525 per day inside IR35
Clearance: BPSS only

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Manual Test Analyst to support delivery within the CESA Legacy estate. This role is focused primarily on existing CESA system knowledge rather than modern test automation skills.

The successful candidate will be able to quickly understand changes to the application, identify impacted functionality and execute effective manual testing with minimal onboarding. Previous experience working within the CESA estate is considered essential.

Key Responsibilities

Perform manual functional and regression testing across the CESA Legacy application.
Review requirements, change requests and defect fixes to determine appropriate test coverage.
Create, maintain and execute manual test cases.
Record, manage and retest defects through to resolution.
Work closely with Developers, Business Analysts and Delivery Leads throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Validate application changes to ensure existing functionality remains unaffected.
Support Sprint and Release testing activities where required.

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience working within the HMRC CESA Legacy environment.
Strong understanding of CESA business processes and application functionality.
Proven background in manual software testing.
Experience producing and executing manual test scripts.
Strong defect identification and reporting skills.
Ability to assess change impact and focus testing on affected areas.
Comfortable working within Agile delivery teams.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.Desirable

Previous experience delivering into HMRC.
Familiarity with defect management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
Understanding of Legacy/Mainframe environments.

Key Requirement

This requirement is not seeking a specialist in automation testing. The priority is an individual with strong CESA Legacy system knowledge who can quickly become productive and confidently validate changes across the application with minimal ramp-up
