We are looking for an experienced Working Foreman to lead the day-to-day delivery of a live school refurbishment project in Purley. The successful candidate will supervise operatives and subcontractors while remaining hands-on where required, ensuring works are completed safely, to programme and to a high standard within an occupied school environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day running of a school refurbishment project.
* Supervise site operatives, subcontractors and deliveries.
* Carry out hands-on works where appropriate to support the programme.
* Coordinate works including roofing, brickwork, damp proofing, metal staircases, fire door repairs and replacements, and general building maintenance.
* Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications.
* Maintain site records including daily diaries, labour returns and progress reports.
* Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
* Liaise with the Contracts Manager, client representatives and school staff to minimise disruption.
* Monitor quality, productivity and workmanship, ensuring defects are rectified promptly.
* Ensure materials, plant and equipment are available to maintain progress.
* Maintain a clean, secure and well-organised site at all times.
Essential Requirements
* Proven experience as a Working Foreman within construction or refurbishment.
* Multi-trade background with strong practical knowledge of general building works.
* Experience working on occupied schools or similar live environments is highly desirable.
* Ability to read drawings and coordinate multiple trades.
* Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills.
* Valid SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
* Valid CSCS Card.
* First Aid at Work qualification (preferred).
* Full UK driving licence.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) due to working within an occupied school environment
