Responsibilities and duties of the General Foreman role
Within the role you will:
Take overall responsibility for supervising and delivering site activities safely, on time, and within budget
Manage and coordinate site teams including Section Foremen, Site Engineers, and Assurance Engineers
Oversee subcontractors to ensure works are completed in line with contractual requirements and production targets
Plan, coordinate, and manage the delivery, storage, and maintenance of materials, plant, and equipment
Collaborate with the Project Manager and Site Management Team on work programmes and method statements
Lead site inspections to ensure compliance with health & safety standards, method statements, and risk assessments
Ensure all personnel are briefed on safe systems of work including toolbox talks and task briefings
Support the Project Manager in implementing changes directed by the client
Monitor site performance and address any issues relating to quality, safety, or productivity
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Relevant construction or engineering qualification (NVQ, HNC/HND, or equivalent preferred)
Valid CSCS Card
Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and contractor responsibilities
Experience using company systems (e.g., Themis or similar)
Proven experience in a supervisory or foreman role on construction projects
Personal skills
The General Foreman role would suit someone who is:
A strong leader with the ability to motivate and manage site teams
Highly organised with excellent planning and coordination skills
Safety-focused with a proactive approach to risk management
A confident communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels
Accountable, driven, and results-oriented
A problem-solver who embraces innovation and continuous improvement
Adaptable and able to manage changing project demands
Salary and benefits of the General Foreman role
Full-time position (40 hours per week)
£45,000 - £50,000 basic salary
£5,000 car allowance
