Caretaker

School Caretaker Required – Plymouth

Days: Monday to Friday

The Supply Register is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming school in Plymouth for an experienced School Caretaker.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous caretaking, premises or site management experience to join a supportive school environment. The role is initially temporary, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Opening and/or locking the school site as required.
Carrying out routine maintenance of the school buildings and grounds.
Undertaking minor repairs, including changing light bulbs, basic plumbing, painting, decorating and general DIY.
Maintaining the school grounds, ensuring they remain safe, clean and presentable.
Emptying bins, litter picking and assisting with general cleaning duties where required.
Moving furniture, equipment and deliveries around the school.
Monitoring stock levels of cleaning and site supplies.
Liaising with and overseeing contractors working on site.
Carrying out routine site inspections and reporting any maintenance issues.
Supporting the school in maintaining high standards of health, safety and security.
Working in line with safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant or Site Manager is desirable.
School-based experience is advantageous but not essential.
Practical DIY and maintenance skills.
A proactive and reliable approach to work.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Two satisfactory references covering the last two years of employment.
Right to work in the UK.
