Our client is one of the UK’s largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors, with over 100 years of industry experience. Operating across highly regulated sectors including pharmaceutical, nuclear, energy, water, and food & beverage, they deliver innovative, value-driven engineering solutions.

They are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their team, supporting projects on a live pharmaceutical manufacturing site.

This is a site-based role within a dynamic framework agreement, delivering approximately 40 projects annually. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Lead, you will manage multiple electrical design projects at varying stages, from concept through to detailed design and handover.

You will operate within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, ensuring full compliance with industry standards, CDM regulations, and client-specific governance procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Delivery

*

Produce scopes of work, technical reports, and detailed design documentation.

*

Develop electrical designs for LV distribution, lighting, fire detection, security, and cabling systems.

*

Create 2D/3D layouts, routing diagrams, and electrical O&M documentation.

*

Support cost-effective and technically compliant project delivery.

*

Work across multiple concurrent projects within a live production environment.

Compliance & Governance

*

Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 and UK pharmaceutical construction standards.

*

Adhere to site-specific security protocols (HORUS clearance required).

*

Maintain strict regulatory and safety standards within a GMP environment.

*

Collaborate closely with client engineers and stakeholders to ensure seamless project integration.

Collaboration & Project Support

*

Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated design delivery.

*

Provide technical support throughout installation and commissioning phases.

*

Contribute to continuous improvement and best practice initiatives.

What You’ll Bring

*

Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical design within pharmaceutical or highly regulated environments.

*

HNC or Engineering Degree (preferred).

*

Professional membership (desirable).

*

Strong technical knowledge of LV systems, lighting, fire safety, security, and structured cabling.

*

Experience producing 2D/3D electrical designs and layouts.

*

Proficiency in AutoCAD LT, Relux/Dialux, Trimble, and Navisworks (Revit advantageous).

*

Strong communication skills and confidence liaising directly with clients.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a complex, highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, contributing to technically challenging and high-impact engineering projects
